Music♫ Retreat 2012 ( Pluck & Bow)

Last last week my sister, my cousin, Hui Ken and I attended a three day two night camp, and It was fun! This trip is organized by Classical Music Society. We get to know this camp through my awesome guitar teacher, which is a member of the society. That morning, we gathered in the Kepong Train station. There were many people but I don't know any of them.

Maria Isabel Siewers (guitarist from Argentina), Angela Lou (A violist from Malaysia), and Enprodito G. Bartolome (Mr prody, a violinist from Philippines) were invited to conduct this 'Pluck & Bow' camp. I think this camp is quite hard to organize, because the committees have to take care of the younger ones, and our expansive instruments! ;)

On the first day, when we got off the train, we rode bus to the hotel, Ritz Garden. It's a very confusing place because the hall is on the fifth floor, and we have to go down to the rooms. I met a primary schoolmate, we're not very close, so I thought there's something wrong with my eyes when she waved at me. Everyone got their T-shirt, pen and name tag. Then 'room leaders' got their room card. It's so cool! I only see room cards in awesome dramas. Then we went downstairs and played some cute ice-breaking games. I got free chocolate and pen! After we had lunch buffet, we had 'Workshop' conducted by Isabel. Workshop is like we all sit there, then she'll teach us some stuff. Like on that day, she taught us how to warm up our fingers like when we're in a cold country. So we did some pull offs and hammer ons. To us, that's quite easy. :)

In this camp, there's a performance that us, all participants have to participate. So, there's small and big ensemble practices. In the big ensemble practice, there's my sis, Hui Ken, me, an adult, a sister and brother, two guys with a serious look and a kind look. This is so lol, our big group part is too easy, so the committee don't even know what to do after repeating. After we had dinner, there were teachers & advanced students concert. For our small ensemble group, there's my sis, Hui Ken, the guys with kind and serious look, a guy with pro look, and I. x) This is cool. There's 2 pieces that six of us will perform on day 3. It's so awesome! I love ensembles. ;) Before we sleep, we had supper. ;))

Day 2, after we had breakfast, there's 'Strings Arobic', and I have no idea what's that. But it's just like performances that violinist combine with guitarists. Then, there's Masterclass from miss Siewers. She has an awesome Spain accent. For those who don't know, Masterclass is like a teaching class. We, students have to get ready of some pieces and play for the explainer. Then the explainer will let us know our weak parts, and help us to improve it. Then, we had photo session. It's just like taking class photos. After our tea break, we had session 2 of Masterclass. My sis had to go up stage, hahha ;D. She did made mistakes. After we had lunch, we had Special Dessert. That's so funny. We walked out the hotel to somewhere quite near, just to eat taufufa and soya bean. It's like eat! eat! eat!

Then, we had Masterclass by my guitar teacher, Mr Fong. He's so cute. The advanced students with him and the beginners with Chua May Ling. So of course we're with him. Mr Fong really have his style of teaching, the way he guide the students is like when they're teaching us, so my sis and I were like having masterclass every lesson! ;) I'm so proud. After ANOTHER tea break, we had Workshop with Mr Fong. He's so skillful. He taught us how to let our fingers be independent. Like emphasizing our PIMA fingers. (P:thumb, I:index finger, M:middle finger,A:ring finger, for those who don't know) Then, we had big ensemble practice, the committees are so pro that I admire the way they lead everyone.

After dinner, there's the artists concert. Outsiders came to see the concert, but we didn't know that. I wore shorts. hehe ;P Then, we had group ensemble practice. Mrs Chua to lead us, she's so dramatic. Our group skipped supper, to practice. Then we even practiced over the 'Lights off hour'. I feel so high. But Hui Ken and the pro look Bryan look so tired, so we decided to practice the other day morning.

Third day, we woke up so early and to eat breakfast. I really ate a lot! Then we have our own small ensemble practice. That Caleb ffk'ed'. Boys. I can't believe that even a boy with a serious look can ffk. I thought I'm the maddest, but my sister is worse. Maybe I'm too softhearted to be mad at someone. I think we're perfect! Our awesome group :DD Then, we had big ensemble practice and performed. Time passes so quickly. Then it's time for performance. Omfg I was nervous. I was like.. cannot even sit straight. This time, everyone sit horizontally in groups. It's like beginners in front, then intermediate, then advanced at the back. Our group is advanced group, but we're the last third group. I think the last group should be like... diploma or grade eight. ;P

The first beginner groups, omfg their pieces were so slow and peace. I suddenly thought of our group pieces are so fast and lively ;O >.< Goshh. When it's our turn, we went up to the stage, and get ready to bow. That Caleb sat down because he missed one of the practice so that he didn't know our plan. After we bow, we sat down, and my sis give the signal to start. xO so cool! My sis and my part is the main melody, so if I play wrongly, I'm not gonna forgive myself. Then to the second piece, I heard while playing the solo climax part, my sis kinda got lost. Hahah xDD I laughed. Idk whether the audience saw? xP luckily I didn't got lost, so I was like backed up for her.

After the whole performance, all participants got their certificate and our big group photo. So we all packed our luggage and brought it down. After we had lunch, we have nothing to do. There's a white grand piano outside the hall, so my sis and I played duet. xP Oh actually from this camp, from the table that we permanently sat, we got to know a guy, who loves Jay Chou, and loves Korean. HAhaha he's so me! ;D He's 21 but look soo much younger. I think we're quite destinated, cause when he was chatting with his friends, I overheard 'Jay Chou... secret..' LOL then I overreacted. Haha XD So he was like.. Oh you can't go back to the past with those mistakes.. haha ;) he said at least I can play, he don't know piano. xP
Everyone boarded the bus, then we went to the Gua. xP It's Gua Tempurung, sooo easy to go through. Ms Angela played viola in there! xO awesome... Those echos made it more perfect. ;) After we bought lots of food from there, we went to eat dinner. That dinner is a lot! Our table has eight girls and one guy! Gosh. And there's one damn big plate of chicken, bean sprouts and meatballs! ;O Each of us have Horfunn and bali. The president of society want us to switch 2 girls to the other table and move some boys here. But we don't want to. And we don't want them to look down on us, so we really ate a lot! ;D I feel like I'm gaining 4kg. xP

That 21 year old friend is learning Korean. Gosh I wanna learn it too >< And he knows Yong Hwa :DDD hhaha he's so me! ;) After we had dinner, we rode bus to the train station. The committees wanted to play our dad's guitar. So we let them. There's a sign, 'No music'. LOL Then we went up the train, down the train, then up again. xP It's so tiring. These three days, I really missed him ;O
